EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Field Gear Expectations for Players

Girls Lacrosse Equipment – Grades K–8

Required Equipment

  1. Goggles

    • Must meet the current ASTM standard for women’s lacrosse eyewear

    • SEI certified and bears the SEI mark

  2. Lacrosse Stick

    • Must be a women’s stick

    • Starter sticks are sold as complete sticks for beginners

    • Shafts can be cut down to fit the player’s arm length (consult your coach)

  3. Mouthguard

    • Must be a visible color (not clear or white)

    • Can be self-molding (from manufacturer) or custom-molded (from dentist)

Optional Equipment

  1. Gloves

    • Should be close-fitting and comfortable while holding a stick

  2. Headgear

    • Must meet the current ASTM standard for women’s lacrosse headgear and bear a permanent SEI certification mark

    • If it includes integrated eyewear, it must meet the current ASTM standard for eyewear as well

Boys Lacrosse Equipment – Grades 1–8

Required Equipment

  1. Helmet

    • Must meet NOCSAE lacrosse standard performance specifications

    • SEI certified

  2. Field Player Crosse (Stick)

    • Short Crosse: 40–42”

    • Long Crosse: 52–72”

    • 10U and younger have allowances for shorter stick lengths (see the USA Lacrosse Boys’ Youth Rules Book)

  3. Gloves

    • Hands must be fully inserted and properly fitted

  4. Shoes

    • Athletic cleats or athletic shoes

  5. Protective Cup

    • Must be properly fitted for comfort and protection

    • Optional garments for comfort include supporters, all-in-one briefs, or combinations

  6. Arm Pads

    • Elbow must be completely and properly covered

  7. Shoulder Pads

    • Covers top of shoulder, collarbone, and sternum

    • Should fit comfortably; adjust using straps

    • Note: NOCSAE ND 200 compliant shoulder pads are mandatory as of January 1, 2022

  8. Mouthguard

    • Must be a visible color (not clear or white)

    • Can be self-molding (from manufacturer) or custom-molded (from dentist)
